My freelance career as a journalist for nearly a decade has included published works for the world's top cannabis website Leafly.com, DOPE Magazine, Extraction Magazine, Terpenes & Testing Magazine, Delta-8 Magazine, and CBD Health & Wellness Magazine.
I currently work as a freelance brand and packaging copywriter for the King Palm Smoking Wrap Company. KP is popular worldwide as a tobacco-free alternative for cannabis consumers. My work includes creating SEO-rich blog pieces, ad copy, product descriptions, and category pages for their website.
While working for JPMorgan Chase & Co. for 4 years, I brought my technical skillset to their in-house agency, Core Digital. My role was to design and publish html, css, and component-based: websites, webpages, press releases, global regulatory documents, executive insights, annual reports, letters from the CEO, and a vast amount of assorted digital content like videos, podcasts, and images — all while on tight turnaround times in many different time zones and within a small team dynamic.
Our successes and tenacity saved the firm millions of dollars each year from not relying on third-party vendors to take on the never-ending stream of content coming down the pipeline each day. My team provided support to all JPMorgan Chase, Chase, and J.P. Morgan branded websites that are too numerous to even list here, however below are just a few samples.
The creative and marketing teams that I was a part of at Primal had a lot of fun coming up with captions and snippets that kept things loose all throughout the creative process of this huge re-brand for the company. I was a "hired gun" for my creative writing chops that added some unique flavor to the Primal stew.
In addition, we were also able to ensure that all of the technical specs were on-point but still able to throw the consumer a silly curveball every now and then.
The new look and direction of the brand made a splash in the cycling community and led to cycling/lifestyle industry buzz, increased site traffic, and most-importantly for the brand — significant upticks in retail and custom sales numbers.
The Primal Facebook community is a large one. Cyclists all around the world love Primal gear, and Primal loves showing them all of the many places and events that are traversed in the name of sport. During my time, I was able to streamline the social media posting process while mixing in different types of content for more page views and likes.
I also conceived copy for many Primal company e-mails that played heavily to the fun and freshness of the newly re-branded apparel that was being featured at the time.
I wanted to document some of my creative process, from concept to realization. These documents are from the proverbial "drawing board" stage of the writing process — specifically for some product copy and scripts featured on this site.
